When does Worst Lifeguards come out?

2027. That is the whole answer: the Steam page shows the year and nothing narrower, because a month we would miss is worse than a year we can hold.
We wrote this page because "no date" is a real answer and almost nobody publishes it plainly. You should be able to find out in one screen whether a game is worth waiting for, and then get on with your day.

Why there is no date
Because we would miss it. The team is small, there is no public build, and the parts of this game that decide whether it is funny — wave physics that can throw four players and forty objects around without turning to soup — are exactly the parts that resist being scheduled.
Picking a month now would buy us a small amount of attention today and cost us all of it on the day we slipped. Games that do this are easy to find; there is a section on our upcoming-games tracker that does nothing but record which release windows moved.
What we will say
- Not 2026. Anyone planning around this year should stop.
- 2027 is what the Steam page shows. It is the year we are working towards, not a day we have booked.
- No month, no quarter, no "holiday window". When we can name a day, the Steam page gets the day first and this page gets it the same afternoon.
What has to happen before a date exists
- A four-player build that strangers can finish a shift in without the physics falling over.
- Enough beach that the eighth shift is still different from the first.
- Playtests with groups who do not know us, because friends are polite and that is useless data.
- A build stable enough to hand to Valve for review with a straight face.
None of those are done. When the first one is, you will hear about it from the game rather than from a press release.
How you will find out
Wishlist it on Steam. Steam emails everyone on a wishlist the day a game launches, which makes it the only notification here that is not us asking you to check something. The Discord is where the slower, uglier progress gets posted in between.
